But then a man named John Doe (yes, that's really his name) came along and coined the term "giclee" to refer to a new type of print born out of the iris drum printers that were capable of extremely high resolution, high quality fine art prints. These printers were very expensive, so there weren't many companies capable of creating giclees back then.
With a change in technology comes a change in business. New printers came out, from the roland wide format, the mimaki JV3, and of course the Epsons, which are relatively cheap, allowing a lot more people to get in on the rapidly changing market. Even though fine art prints still sometimes sell for thousands of dollars in art galleries across the naton, getting a high quality giclee has actually never been easier or more accessible thanks to the internet.
Of course DeviantArt allows you to sell giclee prints, but just keep in mind there are a lot of options out there, and very agressive pricing online, and more and more oppertunities are opening up for art and artists every day.
